Spring Break Discussion Topic

Over the next few weeks I'd like to get your input on what we are doing well and also how we could improve our bus ministry. Please don't be shy. I want to know how you feel about things. Remember what it says on the side: "hopefully this blog will become a forum where you insiders can safely and candidly express your thoughts, opinions, and dreams about reaching the kids in Kelowna for Jesus."

One thing that I notice when we are on the bus is that we are more leaders then anything. I really believe that everyone has to be more friends than leaders. I think that this could attract more kids out. I know that we are the "leaders" but we should sit down and talk to them like they are our friends cause really that is what they are even if they are 10 years younger than us.

I'm with Barry, let's 'advertise'. This is something we've always talked about in the past and feel that more of this is needed since kids are such an important part of our church. I agree video interviews would be great as the kids could be more relaxed and we could somehow make it fun. And hey, if it does manage to recruit people along with bringing awareness, what a nice bonus!
This blog is great...it'll catch on more as time goes on...great idea!
Events like sleepovers are another way to connect and make Evangel the kids' church. Good for getting new kids too.

Prayer team-AWESOME!

I appreciate what Kim said about being friends to the kids on the bus 'cause this is sooo important. I know on our bus I've heard that pretty much all the leaders (who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty) get around to visit with the kids even/especially with the ones causing trouble or are shy and quiet. What an impact you can make by spending your time making a kid feel important to somebody rather than chatting with the other leaders. Who knows those moments could be the highlight of that kid's day/week.
Be encouraged and change the world ONE BY ONE!
I guess I haven't added anything new...but as Bob the Builder (and Zach) would say, "Can we do it? Yes we can!"

I would like to see us do more things that get our bus kids and church kids interacting together outside of sunday morning.
