The "Nuts and Bolts" of Mission:Adventure

Mission:Adventure will take place weekly at three outdoor sites: Rutland Centennial Park (Tuesdays), Quigley Elementary School (Thursdays), Raymer Elementary School (Fridays). The first Tuesday will be July 11 and the last Friday will be August 18. The scheduled time slot is 1-3PM, but in reality we'll stay until the last kids leave or at 4PM, whichever comes first. The first 60-75 minutes will be a formal, stage-centred program. At the schools, the set will be portable staging set up in front of a bus, and at the park we'll use the covered stage that already exists. The "order of service" will always consist of the following: games, music, Bible lesson, object lesson (crazy scientists), memory verse, super-hero story (Secret Agent Man), and prayer time. "Freezies" will be the weekly treat, handed out either before or after the prayer time. Once the program is over, there will be a craft station, sports, and plain old opportunities to play--all for the purpose of relationship-building. Weekly visitation to the kids' homes will also occur, on the nights before the respective sites are attended.

On the week before Mission:Adventure starts, there will be "Summer Kick-Off Parties" at each of the sites on the respective days of the week established above. At the parties there will be the following: bounce house, face painting, snacks, crafts, velcro wall, prize draw, climbing wall, balloon animals, and live entertainment. The live entertainment will actually be promoting Mission:Adventure and will include appearances of Secret Agent Man and the scientists.

The Summer Kick-Off Party is free and requires no registration. Mission:Adventure is also free, but requires registration.
