Fall Update III

I didn't realize there would be so much to update you on! In case anybody is still wondering, the buses start running on September 17. That means that we'll be calling at 8:30, meeting at 9:00, and leaving on the buses at 9:30 sharp. That Sunday is the fall kick-off service for the church and a BBQ will proceed it. We are planning to keep our kids at the church for the BBQ, so the drop-off will be later than usual.

That means that visitation starts this week! Dood, where has the summer gone?! For the first week, the usual flyers will be accompanied by flyers advertising for the new midweek family program, as well as calendars for junior high youth to give out to our new Back Country graduates (grades 6s and 7s). Speaking of which, graduation certificates will soon be coming too...

We'll continue to have a dedicated prayer team for our ministry, so stayed tuned for ways that we can take advantage of that...

This year I'm going to be co-coordinating the One to One reading program at Springvalley Elementary. I'm hoping that we can get people from our church volunteering in this worthwhile program. If you are interested in helping too, please let me know as soon as possible. It's really simple. All it takes is spending a couple of hours a week, listening to kids read and helping them when they struggle. It's a great opportunity to be "salt" in our community.

I'm also going to see about getting involved at the Y again...

I think that's it for now. Hopefully future updates can be a little shorter now...
